What certificates are there?
GOETHE
The "Goethe Zertifikat" is a globally recognized proof of your German language skills. The exams are carried out by the Goethe Institute and currently cost between 119.00 (A1) and 319.00 (C2) euros - a good reason to know beforehand whether you can pass the exam. With a "Goethe Zertifikat" of the appropriate level, you can study or work in Germany.
There are of course alternatives:
TELC
The TELC exams are also internationally recognized and are offered for all levels. In terms of structure and structure, the two tests are also very similar. TELC tests are carried out by many smaller language schools with exam licenses, so the prices are not uniform, but on average a little cheaper than the "Goethe Zertifikat". The corresponding TELC certificates also give you access to work or study in Germany.
Test DaF
The DaF test is a uniform test that roughly maps levels B1, B2 and C1. The exams are carried out at various licensed test centers, e.g. also at the Goethe Institute and currently cost 195 euros in Germany. However, the DaF test is not recognized everywhere and is mostly taken to study in Germany. If you choose this option, you should check whether the university of your choice also accepts the DaF test.
